Q. Do I need to be a member of Lake Mission Viejo to take a class?
A. Lake Mission Viejo is a private lake for members only; however, a lake membership is NOT required to attend our classes. A class reservation allows non-members access to the lake for class time only. When you make an online class reservation, the attendant at the main gate of Lake Mission Viejo will have your name 30 minutes prior to class start time. Please respect the rules and regulations of Lake Mission Viejo. Failure to comply could result in termination of allowing non-members to attend our classes.
Q. What if I’ve never paddled before?
A. If you’ve never paddled before, then we will teach you how to paddle. Not only will we teach you how to paddle, but the boards we use are made specifically for yoga and fitness on the water, so they are a lot more stable than a recreational board made for paddling. Every class begins on the sand where we teach you the basics of paddle technique before we head out on the water. We limit our classes to six students to give every one the attention they deserve on and off the water.
Q. What if I’ve never practiced yoga before?
A. If you’ve never practiced yoga, you are not alone. We often have first time yogis in our classes! Throughout the entire class, our instructors offer modifications for beginners and for those who want to take it to the next level. Yoga is for every body and meets you wherever you are. Everyone supports each other in our classes no matter where they are in their practice. In fact, our returning students are quite fond of witnessing a beginner’s breakthrough and will give you all the encouragement you need.
Q. Is there an age requirement to take a class?
A. Ages 12 and up.
Q. Where is Lake Mission Viejo?
A. For accurate directions to our floating studio location, use ONLY Google Maps and ONLY this address: 22555 Olympiad Road, Mission Viejo, CA 92692.
Q. Where do I park?
A. Once you enter through the main gate of the lake, there is free parking.
Q. Where do we meet?
A. After you park and walk in, you will be facing the water. Make a left and follow the sidewalk along North Beach all the way to the end by the volleyball courts. You will pass lifeguard station #1, then #2, and we will be right after #3. It is a 5 minute walk from the parking lot to our meeting spot. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for parking and walking to our meeting spot. If you are late, you will be left behind. We don’t like to leave any one behind, but for insurance reasons we can not have you join once we’ve left shore.
Q. What should I bring?
A. You can bring your sunglasses and/or a hat with you on the paddle board. We strongly discourage you from taking your phone with you on the water unless you have a waterproof case and a floating device for the phone. Please note Lake Mission Viejo and SoCal Paddle Yoga are not responsible for any lost items.
Q. Can I lock my belongings somewhere?
A. We have a storage unit with a lock where you can keep your belongings while we are on the water. Just let us know when you arrive.
Q. What should I wear?
A. Some people wear a bathing suit, while others prefer to wear shorts or leggings with a tank top. Whatever you decide, we recommend the material is moisture wicking. In other words, whatever you would go running in or would wear to yoga. Avoid clothing made out of all cotton.
Q. Will you take my photo?
A. YES! Unless you request no photos of course. Class photos are posted to our Facebook page within 48 hours after class.
Q. What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
A. We have a 24 hour cancellation/reschedule policy that is enforced due to the class size being limited. If you are unable to attend your scheduled class, please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance of the class. When we receive your cancellation 24 hours before your scheduled class, we will gladly issue you a full refund or provide you with a 100% discount code to use when rescheduling at a later time. If you are past the 24 hour window, we would be grateful if you let us know to give us the opportunity to fill your spot, and if we are successful, we will issue you a refund or reschedule code. If we do not fill your spot in less than 24 hours, then we can not issue you a refund or reschedule code. To cancel or reschedule, please log in to your booking account or click on the link sent in your original booking confirmation email to locate the option to cancel or transfer.
